In a game severely delayed by rain and conditions that made it very tough for the batsmen, Exmouth recorded a six-wicket win over Exeter in the Premier Division of Devon cricket.
Exeter opted to bat first and almost immediately regretted the decision, as the home side tore through their visitors, with a run out and two wickets for Pete Turnbull reducing Exeter to 6-3 within seven overs.
The Exmouth onslaught continued and Exeter’s highest scorer was Ed Middleton with 27, as they were bowled out for just 96 runs, with Lawrence Greenway enjoying figures of 3-11.
Batting did not get any easier, however, and James Horler’s 17 was actually a decent effort in the conditions.
Exmouth still had a lot of work to do from 28-3 but Finn Marks and Luke Davies steered their side to 49-4. George Greenway came in to finish the job with Marks and a great result for the Maer men.
