Exmouth martial arts ace Rees set for European stage

PUBLISHED: 09:08 14 November 2013

Exmouth’s Ben Rees is set to compete in a European Mixed Martial Arts promotion in Birmingham next month.

The 19-year-old will be seen as part of the bill of a big night of martial arts, the highlights of which will be screened on Channel 5.

Rees won his debut fight as a professional back in June. He started training in MMA at the age of 15 and continues to train at the Lions Den gymnasium in Exmouth.

Coach Dave Matthews describes Rees as: “A good honest young fighter who is tough as nails, but very humble. He is taking a big step up with the meeting with Hemel Hempstead’s Ed Arthur.”

Rees said: “I am really honoured to be competing on BAMMA, as it is the top UK promotion and always has exciting match-ups. To be allowed to showcase my skills is like a dream come true. Ed Arthur is a tough worthy opponent he has a great skill-set and I feel this will be my toughest opponent yet.”
