The Exeter Good Friday 10k was held on a four lap course to accommodate building work on the riverside making an excellent race for spectators despite the rather chilly conditions, writes Cathy Newman.
Once again Exmouth Harrier Tom Merson showed his class with an emphatic victory over Adam Holland from Tavistock.
With a time of 31:20, comfortably putting him in the top 50 in the Uk for 10k so far this year, Tom completed a largely solo run and will look to lowering this time considerably in the coming months. Berihu Hadera, 33:33, joined Tom on the podium picking up third place with a very strong finish after battling with Jamie Barnett for most of the race.
Mike Musgrove, 35:29, putting the finishing touches to his London Marathon training was seventh overall and Des White the V60 winner in 44:55.
Caterina Gonclaves led the Exmouth women home with 41:02 for 6th overall whilst Paula Hawkins, 45:41, was third W40 and Alison White second W60 in 51:43.
The event was organised by City Runs whose summer 5k series starts on April 10, at the same riverside venue. https://www.city-runs.co.uk/run-exe-5k/
