Amanda McCann, Lisa Hatchard, Hayley Johns, Alice Kelly, Nicola Kelly and Becky Matthews ran in a superb self-navigating event put on by Climb South West that started and finished on the Budleigh Salterton seafront, covering some of the biggest climbs in East Devon and took in trig points at High Peak, Weston Cliff, Buckton Hill, Beacon Hill, Aylesbeare, Woodbury, Black Hill and West Down Beacon.
Amanda and Lisa competed in the 8 Trigs race that covered approximately 33 miles and took in over 5,000 feet of climbing. They ran as a team and finished in 18th position in an amazing time of 8 hours and 8 minutes.
“It really is a fabulous event made all the better with the perfect running conditions; warm but with a cool breeze,” said Amanda. “Spectacular scenery but by the time we’d got to Weston after all the climbing, was wondering how on earth we were going to manage another 20 miles.”
Hayley, Alice, Nicola and Becky competed in the 5 Trigs race that covered approximately 22 miles and over 2,500 feet of climbing. Hayley, Alice & Nicola ran as a team and finished in 16th position in a time of 4 hours and 42 minutes. Becky finished in 48th position in 7 hours and 19 minutes.
