After watching Team GB winning medals galore at the Tokyo Olympics, Exmouth Harriers tested their prowess in some challenging athletic events.
Four Exmouth Harriers took on the extremely difficult National Three Peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowdon) over the weekend of July 31 / August 1. Louise Hempstead, Kate Baker, Sue Hill & Emma White completed the ascent and descent of the three highest peaks in Scotland, Wales and England within 24 hours, raising money for RV-ONE.
The total distance to tackle the Three Peaks was 23 miles (37km), the total ascent was 3064 metres (10,052ft) and the total driving distance (between the Peaks) was 462 miles.
Exmouth Harriers entered eight teams of four runners in the Run Exe Relays at Exwick on Friday, August 6. Each of the runners completed a mainly flat circular 4km leg along the footpaths beside the River Exe.
It was another excellent event organised by City Runs with 63 teams of four runners from local and further afield running clubs taking part.
Everyone showed great team spirit and ran really well. Once the organisers announced the results, Exmouth Harriers were delighted to have won four of the team prizes (3rd team overall, Women’s 40-49, Women’s 60-69 & Men’s 60-69).
Sam Kelly was the fastest Harrier, completing his 4km leg in an amazing 12 minutes 18 seconds, with Cathy Newman recording the fastest Harriers Ladies time of 15 minutes 18 seconds.
