Five Exmouth Harriers were at one of the oldest road races in the area, the Bampton to Tiverton event, writes Dave Eveleigh.

It is an undulating course of around seven miles though perhaps the biggest challenge is keeping safe on a route which these days can see a lot of traffic on a sunny Easter Monday. Simon Minting was the first Harrier home, in sixth place of over 140 finishers, his time 41:00. Jon Garrity was 19th in 44:36 and wasthird man age 40 - 44. Andrew Johnson was 48th in 49:50. Then came a couple of Exmouth runner who have been around for about as long as this event. Ray Elston was very pleased with 99th place and a time of 58:00, a performance which compares well with those at other races he has run recently, and got him the award for first Man Over 70. In the same category Jim Wyatt was second and overall 131st in 70:02.

Meanwhile, Exmouth Harrier Jamie Palmer continued his run of good form at the Yeovilton Easter 10K race on the same day as Bampton to Tiverton. Jamie was fourth in 33:59 and second man age 40-44.
