Harrier Simon Minting plus Oli & Des White ran the European Masters Athletics “Road to Valtramontina” Virtual 10km, and the GB team finished first.
We started within a few minutes of each other at the bottom of Hulham Road and in the first 1.5km we climbed 48m.
Des was overtaken within the first km and never saw Simon and Oli again!
After 1.5km on Dinan Way, we turned on to St John’s Road for the steepest part of the course; 87m within 1.5km.
At the top of John’s Road, we crossed the main Exeter Road and into Wrights Lane bordering on the edge of the East Devon Pebblebed Heaths. We climbed to the highest point of the course at just under 153m. We then had 107m of fast descent to the bottom of Jubilee Drive.
We turned uphill for the last time and climbed 34m before the final descent of 58m to the bottom of Pound Lane, aptly finishing by a Covid sign.
