Last week saw another busy week for all concerned at Exmouth Bridge Club, writes Carla Pickering.

First up saw an extra Simultaneous Pairs’ event, this staged as a test run for a new system to be installed by the EBU, but this was not a Green Point competition.

However, the event was better attended than usual and three pairs did exceptionally well to get into the top third in the country!

Phil Palmer and Jennifer Flood scored the highest result nationally and were placed 106th in a field of 1800 players.

Chris Hall and Rosemary Ormerod were 196th, followed by John Dick and Gordon Baker in 459th position.

Next up was a Multiple Teams’ competition held at the club. This turned out to be a most relaxed and indeed pleasant occasion for the eleven teams who took part.

The Luce Cannons, represented by Martin and Cilla Luce, together with Roy and Carla Pickering, won the evening with a score of 58 IMPS while the Refourmed team of Chris Hall, Mike Crelley, Richard Andrews and Gaynor Wiseman finished second with 54 IMPS.
