It has been a busy time of late for Exmouth Bridge Club, writes Cara Pickering.

The Worldwide Simultaneous Pairs event saw Chris Thomas and John Dick achieve a score of almost 62 per cent.

What’s more, Jill Williams and Teresa Tea, Roger Bendall and Trevor Smith and also Peter Cliffe and Jean Vinnicombe are also in the top 10 per cent in the world with scores of almost 60 per cent!

Last Friday saw the club’s annual ladies’ pairs and men’s pairs competitions played out and the action was witnessed by a terrific turnout.

Dawn Graham and Mary Wheaton won by the narrowest of margins with a score of 61.62 per cent with the ‘best of the rest’ being Jill Williams and Teresa Tee, who scored 61.35 per cent.

In the men’s pairs the top honour went to Chris Thomas and John Dick with a score of 64.58 per cent and second were Graham Hoare and Barry Smale, who scored 58.75 per cent.

The club’s Winter League is now complete and, when all the scores were in, Raw Deal repeated their success of last year while Reform were the runners-up.
