Sixty members of the Exmouth Bridge Club enjoyed a Christmas lunch held at the Cat and Fiddle with the meal followed by a session of ‘teams of four’ duplicate bridge, writes Brian Hughes.
The winning teams were Mary Wheaton, Liz Runnalls, Pat Daly and Rosemary Bradshaw and Chris Thomas, Terry Cannon, Maurice Yates and Chris Fifield.
In the third session of the Winter League, the winning teams were Shelagh’s Acolytes, Refourmed and Luce Cannons with two matches not played because of illness.
The leaders in the first division are now Refourmed and Shelagh’s Acolytes. The Traps and Luce Cannons lead the second division.
Also this week the annual prizes for the Cumulative Competition were presented. To qualify members had to play in at least 45 sessions during the year and their average scores were calculated.
The winners were Chris Thomas, Les Spencer, John Dick and Shelagh Hughes.
The four members who attended at least 45 sessions and improved most during the year were also awarded prizes; Rose Roberts, Ray Lord, Pam Harber and Tony Harber.
