Exmouth Bridge Club latest – five members win 2014 English Bridge Union prizes

Exmouth Bridge Club saw the final matches played in the club’s Winter League, write Brian Hughes.
Refourmed won their last match 20-0 against The Flops to remain unbeaten throughout the campaign and retain their Division One title.
In a close-fought match, AJs beat Shelagh’s Acolytes 12-8 to overtake them in the table and finish second. In the other match, Old Deal beat Temp 12-8. Luce Cannons beat Newbies 20-0 to see out the season as unbeaten and rightfully champions of Division Two. The runners-up were Traps, who did not have a match this week. The other match played saw Jjamber beat The Travellers 14-6.
This monthly event tests different bridge-playing skills from the pairs events held in most of the club sessions, and the matches are always keenly contested.
Meanwhile, in other club news, five members have won 2014 English Bridge Union prizes for gaining more Master Points than other players of their level in a County. Level Four success was achieved by Chris Thomas and Shelagh Hughes whilst at Level Five there was joy for John Dick and Jill Williams and, at Level Six, Trevor Smith bagged the honours.
