Exmouth 2nds enjoyed one of their more enjoyable days in C Division East of the Tolchards Devon Cricket League, beating Heathcoat by 19 runs and leapfrogging their hosts in the standings.

Codie Strydom played beautifully to reach 84 from 77 balls and there was a delightful cameo down the order from Josh Austin, who smashed six boundaries in a quickfire 42.

Exmouth closed on 225/7 and the bowling attack always kept the Heathcoat reply in check. Strydom grabbed three wickets, as Heathcoat were dismissed for 181.

Budleigh 2nds fell to a one-wicket defeat in D Division East. Leaders Shobrooke Park were limited to 165/9, with Adam Jones and Theo Northover each claiming three wickets.

Steve Booth scored an excellent 61 for the Budleigh batting unit but only two other players were able to reach double figures in a game that will be seen as a missed opportunity.
