Exe Table Tennis Club has had a hugely successful year, writes Richard Wellington.
The club is based at Exmouth Community College and runs on a Tuesday evening between 7 and 10pm.
There has been a significant boost to numbers this past year, in particular from students in years seven and eight.
The youngsters have shown themselves to be enthusiastic and with no shortage of genuine ability to boot!
As well as playing at the club they have competed for the school in East Devon and Devon competitions.
The club has just received great news from English Table Tennis Association the official organisation for the sport in an award of the ETTA Premier Club 1 Star rating, being judged to be one of the best clubs in the UK.
Club chairman Paul Humphries and Exe TT committee members are all extremely proud that the hard work they put in over the past 12 months to gain this prestigious rating.
The chairman says: “We cater for youngsters from the age of 9 or 10 to players well in their 60’s. Coaching is offered on most club nights and regular competitions are run alongside the popular Junior League.”
The next competition to be run at the club will be the annual Junior
Skills Tournament, playing for the Brian Worts Shield.
All the youngsters will score points for a set of games and challenges using their table tennis skills.
