Exe first team produced a super all-round performance to defeat Bath Buccaneers 4-1 in what had been a much anticipate top-of-the-table Premier Division One clash.

The two sides went into the game separated by a single point in favour of Exe. They made a lightning-quick start, going ahead in the sixth minute with skipper Kelly Luscombe the scorer.

The lead was then doubled, but a reply from Bath saw Exe into the break with a 2-1 advantage.

Team boss Jackie Shute gave an inspired half-time talk and two second half goals sealed Exe a richly deserved success.

This weekend the table-toppers take on Yate.

Meanwhile, Exe II were edged out 1-0 by Plymouth University in what was a close contest from first whistle to last.

The only goal came in the second half from a short corner by Student team.

Exe fought back well, but were unable to find a finish to match some good approach play.
