Exe claim excellent Marjon victory.

Exe Thirds were impressive as they claimed an odd goal in five success at Marjon Seconds in Plymouth.
With a full compliment of players Exe took to the Plymouth pitch in confident mood and were ahead at the break courtesy of a smart piece of finishing by Laura Allen. The second half saw Exe play with greater confidence and a neat move down the right between Rosie Barrett, Molly Coleman and Becky Stanlake saw Clare Whittaker apply a polished finish to double the lead. With Tag James, Sian Williams and Becky Goodwill calmly dealing with any Plymouth attack to set up counter attacks, Catherine Payne extended the lead with an individual goal, which was just reward for her tireless running.
Young Alice Shoulder, given a first start in the team this term, regularly beat her player with her surging right wing runs and was unlucky not to score a fourth. With eight minutes remaining the hosts pulled one back and then went in search of a second which duly arrived, albeit with the final play of the contest leaving Exe 3-2 winners.
Exe thoroughly deserved their first win of the season with an excellent all round team performance witnessed by their Life Member, Joan Treece – and now the side are rather hoping they can persuade Joan to attend the Sidmouth game this coming weekend as clearly her presence is a key!
