The latest round of the flat and fast Ironbridge Runner Summer 5k Series took place in Exeter last week, writes Dave Eveleigh.
This year Exmouth Harriers have been taking to these races in greater numbers than before and nine were there this month. Despite injuries Mike Musgrove is having a pretty good year competitively. There were 109 runners (of which 32 were female) and Mike was fifth, but first Male Aged 40-44 in 17:08, a personal best time. Chris Dupain is racing regularly at the moment and rather getting into the swing of it, here finishing 18th overall and knocking over half-a-minute off his PB, while Richard Hawes was 22nd in 18:53, yet another lifetime best for a local runner! In 40th place and fourth woman was Hannah Bown another personal best, by a single second, but her fastest ever over the distance all the same. Ben White was 59th in 21:49, just three seconds outside his best.
Emma Dupain was 64th, not quite matching a storming run last month, with a time of 22:07. Lee Russell finished 67th in a respectable enough 22:35. Nigel Dupain’s position was 75th, his time 23:24, and he looks to be in line for an overall Series age group prize as thing stand currently. Dawn Tee was 78th in 23:24 and third woman aged 50–54.
