THE Exe Equestrian Fun Horse and Dog Show was a resounding success when held recently, thanks to the generous sponsorship support of Kenniford Farm Shop.Nutwell Court provided the magnificent setting for the event that saw youngsters given the opportunity of trying their skills over jumps in showing classes, a handy pony class and, last but not least, gymkhana games. For many of the participants it was a first ever such experience and, with the help of mums, dads and siblings, many went home proudly clutching rosettes.A fancy dress class drew entrants, including Alice in Wonderland, together with a mad hatter and her pony as the white rabbit, a lady bug, a knight, a hula girl and a medieval princess. The dog show was also a great success with over 160 entries and classes ranging from dog with the waggiest tail, fastest bonio eater, an agility class, best veteran and best puppy, together with many others.Vicky Carter picked up the trophy as the Exe Equestrian member to gain the highest number of points on the day.The club's next event is an Open Show which will be held, again at Nutwell, on Sunday, June 7, whilst the dressage league continues at Bicton Arena on Thursday, June 11.For all things Exe Equestrian visit their website at www.exeequestrianclub.co.uk.
