On what turned out to be the hottest May Day bank holiday for 40 years, the Exe Equestrian Club held its opening event of 2018, a 10-mile pleasure ride over Woodbury Common, kindly sponsored by Leonard Coombe.

Over 50 riders took part, seeing Woodbury Common at its best. This year there was an optional 5-mile ride encompassing shady woodland, sandy gallops and stunning views. On returning, riders were offered a welcome drink and bacon roll. Two further rides are planned; a cream tea ride on August 5 and an autumn ride on September 9.

As this ride last year was cancelled on the day due to torrential rain, it was a relief that for once the weather was not a concern. Hopefully this bodes well for the rest of the season. Our next event is on May 27, a novice showing show and gymkhana, at Nutwell Court.

Exe Equestrian is a small, friendly club who would welcome any help at events. Please visit our website www.e-equestrian.co.uk or come and say hello on the day.
