AFTER the deluge of rain on the Saturday, the Open Show, run by the Exe Equestrian Club, was blessed with lovely weather. The sun shone and the drying wind made conditions excellent and showed the venue, Nutwell Court, off to its best.Once again the classes were varied, including show jumping commencing at a height of 2' 0", working hunter classes and, of course, the ever-popular showing classes, where many a horse/pony had been shampooed, brushed and polished until they gleamed.Long-standing sponsors Graham Sykes Insurance and Leesons of Honiton, sponsored the show for which both organisers and participants are most grateful. The Club's next event is a new one to the schedule, a Combined Training event, taking place at Nutwell on Sunday, July 12.This event involves the two disciplines of dressage and show jumping. A class is included especially to encourage riders who have never been placed in a One Day Event/Combined Training. For more information and indeed all things Exe Equestrian Club call (01395) 263772 or visit the club's website, www.exeequestrianclub.co.uk.
