East Devon’s star youngsters pick up their 2012 awards

The Junior AGM was held at East Devon Golf club, writes Paul Willoughby.
Twenty juniors and their families attended the evening to review the year’s activities and celebrate their many achievements.
Lewis White, the outgoing 2012 Junior captain, presented the medals for all the winners who received their actual trophies at the Club’s main prize giving evening.
The winners of the year’s awards were: David Priestner, the Jack Berry trophy for the best two of six medal rounds; Emily Morey, the Sherbrook Cup for the best two of six Stableford rounds; Molly Haslam, the Trapnell Cup for the under 25’s; Charlotte Husband, the Warn Cup for the best stableford; Jacob ‘Cubby’ Tinsley, the Betty Baynham cup for the best gross scores of 76 and 77 total 153; Emily Morey, the Norris Trophy for the best net scores of 73 and 78, total 151; Eddie Jackson, the Bill Thomas cup for being the Under-13 champion; Jack Sharland, the George Peaker salvers for best adult/junior team – ably assisted by Harry Nodwell! Maddie Stone, the Pheasant for best stableford; Evie Stone, the Jamie Cowling cup knock out and Jack Sharland, the Law trophy for the Most Improved Golfer. The improvement does not just relate to the player’s golfing ability; it covers other criteria such as attitude and enthusiasm as well as handicap so, well done, Jack.
Lewis White then presented a bouquet to his mother, Sarah (also an East Devon member) for all her hard work in helping him as team captain.
He also presented a bouquet to Judy Murray, the Junior Organiser for making the junior section so successful over the year.
Judy then made a presentation to some of the volunteers for all the time and effort they had put in to support the team.
Ben French will be next year’s captain and Emily Morey will be vice captain.
