Lesley Wilson won a close fought July stableford competition at East Devon Golf Club last week, and with it took home the Blatcher Cup, writes Helen Chivers.

Wilson claimed the narrowest of victories over the 80 ladies playing as she recorded a three under par round of 39 points, only winning on countback from two other Bronze Division players, Pat Jarvis and Linda Longmuir.

Jane Joy took fourth place in Bronze Division with her one under par 37 points and it took another countback to separate four players fighting for fifth – Jane Harvey eventually coming out on top, ahead of Diane Bourne, Di Willoughby and Sally Shackleton as they all shot level par rounds on 36 points.

The scores were equally close in Silver Division. Marilyn Hobbs took top spot on countback from Helen Hughes as they both returned level par rounds of 36 points.

Five players were a shot behind on one over par 35 points, with Sue Fowler leading them in on countback closely followed by Carole Brailey, Brenda Somerfield, Sally Underwood and Jo Goldsworthy.
