TWO of the finest golf courses in the South West joined forces over the weekend to host the inaugural Jurassic Coast Golf Tournament.

Neighbouring clubs, East Devon and Woodbury Park, got together to organise a Mixed Golf competition, where players played one round on each course over two days.

Pairs from across the South of England enjoyed competitive golf on two very contrasting courses - one parkland and the other cliff top heathland - in the most glorious of sunny weather.

The eventual winners, with an outstanding score of 84 Stableford points, were a couple from Ilfracombe, Roger and Evelyn Jones.

The event has been a great hit with competitors, many of whom were taking a short break in East Devon from outside the region just to take part in this championship.

Dates for next year's event have already been fixed and the event will be played on Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11, 2011.
