It has been a terrific start to the long-awaited snooker season, with East Budleigh ‘B’ the only team to remain unbeaten in the Exmouth Snooker League.
Their impressive opening record only came after Jamie Gulliford 64-26 and Merv Long 56-36 had to wait for Stu Laws’ final frame win (55-36), as John Evens 54-29 and John Parrott 68-41 brought second place Police Social ‘C’ level after four matches.
East Budleigh ‘A’ and Police ‘A’ share third place, as both teams recorded 4-1 victories. Mark Auton 101(32)-76, Barry Bentley 63-45, Alan Farrant 80-65 and Kev Luxton 61-53 saw the second frame lost to Kevin Procter 53-25 at the Conservative Club.
Defending champions Police ‘A’ dominated their fixture against the Police ‘B’. Carl Rowsell 77-66, Russ Payne 87-33, George Webster 72-50 and a black-ball win 57-55 for Pete Abrahams were denied maximum points by Terry Merrick 73-45.
Great start, and more to come.
