EAST DEVON EAGLES 66 points EXETER CENTURIONS 10 pointsEAST Devon Eagles played their last league game of the season against Exeter Centurions on a warm sunny Wednesday evening and scored a dozen tries to keep them safely at the top of the South West Conference league.Eagles were on the score sheet virtually from the kick off when Rich Cadywould chipped the ball ahead, caught the bounce and passed on outside to Jack Downie for him to go over in the corner, Cadywould converting.Fifteen minutes in, quick play of the ball by Marc Briggs to Mike Wilson saw him dive over under the crossbar, quickly followed by a try by Sean Lovett when skipper Dave McCarthy and Olly Turton passed the ball swiftly out to Lovett, who weaved through the defence to touch down near the posts, Cadywould converting both.In the 15 minutes before the break, the Eagles scored three further tries. Cadywould took the ball on from Mark Wathes, kicked high and caught it mid-air to crash over under the posts and then Wathes picked up the ball from the scrum before passing to Downie who crossed under the posts. Cadywould then scored his second try when he sold a dummy and grounded the ball under the sticks and he duly converted to take the Eagles in at the break with a 34-0 lead. The visitors took advantage of some slack play at the start of the second half but it didn't take long for the Eagles to respond, Jonny Boltrukiewicz crashing over wide out. Cadywould scored the conversion and this was followed by Wathes touching down after taking a slick inside pass from Jascha Saeck.Mike Wilson then fed Jack Westlake who powered over before Boltrukiewicz scored his second try by sidestepping the defence and going over by the posts. Downie then completed his treble of tries before more slack defensive play allowed the visitors a second score. However Eagles claimed the last score of the game through Olly Turton to seal a comprehensive win in a game superbly officiated by Ian Allison.Eagles Squad: Mark Wathes, James Holman, Jascha Saeck, Jack Downie, Rich King, Sean Lovett, Rich Cadywould, Marc Briggs, Dave McCarthy, Andy Melbourne, Mike Wilson, Jonny Boltrukiewicz, Tony Emmins, Paul Flower, Nick Smith, Jack Westlake, Rich Sharp, Luke Kent, Olly Turton, Nathan Budd.Tries: Downie 3, Wilson, Lovett, Cadywould 2, Boltrukiewicz 2, Wathes, Westlake, Turton.Conversions: Cadywould 9The League campaign may be over but there remains one big game for the side to play.
