EAST Devon Golf Club s Lady Captain, Hilary Sheils, had splendid weather for her special day played last week.

The Captain's prize was won by Jean Bain, who carded an excellent score of 45 pts whilst the other results were, in the Silver Division, where count back was adopted to determine a three way tie on 36pts.
After the count back, Jill Miller took 1st, Maureen Gray the runners-up spot and 3rd went to Jean Benzie.
In the Bronze A Division, Hilary Drew came 1st with 39pts and after count back was again called upon, Pippa Norman took 2nd and Rene Angus, 3rd.
In the Bronze B Division Frances Hurrell won on 35pts, five better than Celia Dixon and Marion Morgan came 3rd with 28pts.
The front nine prizes went to Judy Murray, Margaret Webb and Mo Watson and the back nine honours went to Elaine Bright, Brenda Somerfield and Deirdre Mackness.
The nearest the pin prizes went to Rene Angus, Hilary Greenaway and Jill Miller, the nearest the 18th pin in two, went to Helen Chivers.
The nearest the marker in the bronze section was claimed by Maria Onley and in the silver section it went to Julie Jago.
The team prize went to, Sally Stratton, Rosemary Ashford and Barbara Mellor
The restricted Ladies played a Nine Hole Stableford which was won by Jean Halton with 19pts followed by Margaret Menhenitt on 14pts.
At the end of the Prize-Giving, Hilary was presented with a bouquet by the Junior Girls.
l In the August 18 Stableford competition, the silver division was won by Jean Benzie with 36pts with Sue Fowler (34) and Alison Corney (34), taking the minor places.
In the Bronze A section it was Julie Clarke who claimed victory with 36pts, one ahead of Jan Harvey and a further point clear of Alison Kent.
The Bronze B division was won with 31pts by Pam Webster with Celia Dixon 2nd on 29 pts and Frances Hurrell 3rd with 29 points.
