Devon Cricket is on the lookout for a finance director and company secretary to join its board of directors.

The DCB remit has grown in recent years and includes collaborating with the Devon Cricket League, Devon County Cricket Club and Devon Association of Cricket Officials as well as providing recreational and competitive cricket for seniors and youngsters of all abilities.

Its county youth age group programme is a vital part of its 'pathway' to Minor Counties' cricket and the professional game particularly with Somerset County Cricket Club.

In recent years, the programme, recognised as one if the best in the country for a ‘minor county’, has developed young players who have gone on to play for England at international level, including Chris Read, Lewis Gregory, the Overton twins and Dom Bess.

Devon Cricket also looks after the game at a grassroots level for people of all ages and abilities, as well as the fast-growing women's cricket and cricket for people with disabilities. The DCB provides training courses for clubs, coaches and officials to ensure the sport is safe, diverse and inclusive.

Managing director Matt Theedom said: "Devon Cricket has grown massively in recent years, which shows more and more people are taking part in the game. We have also worked closely with the clubs to help them improve their facilities and have only recently appointed a facilities officer to show our commitment to that kind of work.

"There have been some challenges in the past couple of years with Covid but we have worked closely with the clubs to get through that.

"The way we have grown just emphasises and reinforces the need to fill these outstanding board of director roles as a matter of urgency. They are absolutely key to the board and moving forward."

Board chairman Jon Sparkes said: "Devon is regarded as having one of the best National Counties set-ups in the country and we just want to keep it that way. Filling these two posts are absolutely key to those aspirations."
