Woodbury and Newton St Cyres went down by six wickets on their visit to Honiton for their latest Tolchards Devon League E Division East game.

Skipper Martin Pearce won the toss and opted to bat and saw opener Jim Jones top score with 40. Fellow opener Shenan Grossberg hit 39 and there was an unbeaten 20 from number 10 bat Richard Hunt which, together with 33 extras, took the score to 158-9 after their 45 overs.

The home side found batting far more to their liking as they eased to a six wicket win in one delivery less than 27 overs.

Woodbury and Newton St Cyres skipper Pearce was the most successful of his bowlers, he returned figures of 2-35 from seven overs and there were single wickets for Richard Hunt and Andy Cork.

This Saturday (July 14), Woodbury and Newton St Cyres entertain Bideford Littleham and Westward Ho!
