EXMOUTH cricket Club are well represented in the latest Devon County under-21 squad whop are tasked with retaining the Southern Counties title that they shared last season with Cornwall.
A twelve man squad has been named under the captaincy of Heathcoat’s James Smith with Bradninch’s Gary Chappell as vice captain.
The three Exmouth players to make the twelve are Chris Metters, Andrew Buzza and Toby Ingham.
The inclusion of Ingham is particularly satisfying for al at the Maer ground for Ingham has made his way through the ranks at Exmouth CC and is proof that youngsters joining the Maer men get great opportunities to make their way to the top of the game at County level.
Exmouth Chairman Peter Langford said: “We are delighted for both the club and of course the three lads. Chris (Metters) is relatively knew to us having arrived at the start of the season and he has settled into the club so well, he is a very popular individual. Andy (Buzza), started his cricket elsewhere and came to us in the latter stages of his youth development whilst Toby (Ingham) is the genuine article in terms of starting his cricket with us and progressing through the age groups to ultimately play for the County. It is all very pleasing indeed.”
