TOPSHAM St James under-10 pairs put on a power show to totally dominate Thorverton.

The Thors were invited top bat and Chris Richardson opened the bowling and hit an excellent line and length from his first delivery. Early wickets for Richardson and fellow opener Dean Pym, gave Topsham the start they wanted.

Callum Davison piled on the pressure with a wicket maiden as he and debutant Luca Pym continued the bowling.

At the half way point of the innings the Thors had 124 on the board.

Sam Warren and Lucas Appleton-Pratt were next with the ball and the pair really turned the screw with three wickets and a run-out.

Tom Veale and Jay Warren were the fourth and final pair with the ball with the latter claiming a wicket with his final delivery as Thorverton’s innings closed on 130.

Richardson, with three 4s and Dean Pym, with a huge six over square leg, got the reply up and running.

Luca Pym and Davidson took over and the Saints reached 152 at the half way point of their innings.

Warren and Appleton-Pratt then plundered 52 runs from the four overs they faced before Veale and Jay Warren finished things off to see the reply to a close of 242 and a 112 run victory.

Coach Richard Warren said: “This was an exceptional all-round effort throughout the team to bring them their biggest winning margin to date. The team bowled very straight, taking eight wickets, all of which were bowled whilst they also batted with confidence and fielded very well, thus maintaining their unbeaten record..
