Topsham St James youngsters continue to impress in league cricket XI

Topsham St James II were beaten by four wickets in their game at Exmouth III.

Batting first the Saints closed on a very respectable 239-7.

Ed Paleit was the star of the show driving the ball to all parts on his way to an unbeaten knock of 86. There were other contributions from opener Mike Davison (36), Jon Hull (25), skipper Brian Jeary (24) and Saad Choudhary (19).

Exmouth, despite the rigours of a long stint beneath the blazing sun chased down the total with some gusto, led their by an unbeaten century from the experience Julian Page. The win was conformed with three wickets and ten overs to play with.

The top Saints bowler was Amit Kartikeyan who finished with figures of 3-61 from nine over and there was a wicket each for Jon Hull, Ed Paleit and Brian Jeary.

Skipper Jeary said: “Although the game was lost, it was a vast improvement on the previous week, and good to see promising contributions from two youngsters, Tom McShane and Aiden Pring”
