Topsham settles for draw with Civil Service

TOPSHAM St James2nd XI had to settle for a winning draw when they entertained Civil Service II.
Things did not start well for the Saints as they lost their opening wicket with just thirteen runs on the board.
However, Mike Tracey and Ryan Clarke regrouped, taking the score to 114 before Clarke was out for an excellent 74.
Wickets then fell at regular intervals with the main damage being inflicted by Nick Rowe who took 4 wickets for 43 runs off 13 overs.
However, all the Topsham batsmen contributed and Mike Tracey’s 32 and Adam Friend’s 23 were of particular note in ensuring that the score reached 215 for 9 before the innings closed.
David Gambie broke into Exeter Civil Service’s batting line-up while there was only four runs on the board.
Again, wickets fell at regular intervals with Rehan Caryl being Civil’s top scorer with 52 not out and Nick Rowe making a useful 34 at number 7.
David Gambie finished with the excellent figures of ten overs, three of which were maidens and claimed 2-18 whilst Rupert Pratt also bagged a brace, his at a cost of 24 runs from half a dozen overs. Exeter Civil Service finally finished with 157 for 6 off their 46 overs. This left the Saints with 14 points fro a winning draw and the visitors settling for nine points and a losing draw.
