TOPSHAM St James Under-15 have a very important Friday, June 19, game in North Devon, thanks to the talents of 13 year old Tom Richardson.

TOPSHAM St James Under-15 have a very important game tomorrow (Friday) thanks to the talents of 13 year old Tom Richardson.The youngster had opponents Hatherleigh in an almighty spin as he ensured his side booked tomorrow's game at Instow in North Devon when they play Barnstaple & Pilton in the Quarter Finals of the County round of the ECB national cup.Topsham St James batted first and posted a decent total of 124-6 thanks mainly to a fine unbeaten 33 from Alexander Sparkes.Young Sparkes hit one huge six that sailed high out of the ground!When Hatherleigh began their reply they looked very much on course to book themselves a North Devon derby, cruising along at 82-3.At this point Richardson was tossed the ball and he quickly began to weave his own particular brand of magic.He removed four batsmen and then secured a glorious fivefer when the batting hero, Sparkes, held on to a wonderful catch in the deep to send the Topsham faithful into great delight and book the Under-15 side that place in tomorrow's big match.The success of the Topsham St James youngsters comes as no real surprise given that the senior club at the Bonfire Field put a great deal of time and effort into the youngsters, blooding many at 1st and 2nd XI level.
