WOODBURY'S 2nd XI picked up a much-needed first Devon League win of the season at home against Clyst Hydon II.A damp, early season pitch was not easy to score on as the visitors were put in to bat and managed a respectable 178 all out with Rob Jones taking 4-65, Martin Cook 2-39 and Ian Hughes 2-23.In reply, Woodbury lost two early wickets and were 18-2, but James Kavanagh hit a quick-fire 49 (two sixes and seven fours) and Matt Plowman 15 before both were dismissed to take the score to 85-4. Andy Smale and Robbie Carter then added 51 for the fifth wicket with Smale hitting an impressive 55 (two sixes and four fours) before his dismissal on 136-5. Carter (34no) and Kevin Miller then knocked off the remaining 43 runs to ease to a 5-wicket victory with 15 overs to spare.Woodbury claimed a full house of 20 points and on Saturday they make the short trip to Feniton.
