BUDLEIGH 2nd XI skipper James Blurton returned to the side for the trip to Bovey Tracey on Saturday.Batting first Budleigh got off to a good start with Mark Hammett (20), and a 58 run top order partnership between Burton (27) and James Hope (32).Hope but Bovey, who then had the visitors at 127-4 must have felt they were in control .However Nathan hardy had other ideas as he came in and began to score runs in rapid fashion knocking 80 from just 77 balls!Hardy's half century came up in only 45 balls and his completed innings included ten 4's and two 6's.With contributions from James Sharkey (20) and 37 extras Budleigh closed on 236 all out. The main damage being caused by seamer James Mason (5-47) and spinners Millington (2-58) and Thomas (2-33) doing the rest Bovey then took to the crease and Budleigh struck a couple of early blows to leave the hosts on 56 for 2. However a 81 run partnership between Ben Elphick and Richard Longstreet (31) started to put Budleigh under pressure. Two quick wickets put Budleigh back in with a chance with the score at 140 for 4, but Elphick batted through with a score of 102 not out and with Newton (25) and Mason (22*) chipping in to seal the game for Bovey. The pick of the Budleigh bowlers were Hope (2-66) and Chris Batten with a tidy 2-54 with Burton taking the other wicket.
