Budleigh Under-13s bowled superbly to claim a 67 run win over Heathcoat in a Bradleys East Devon league game.

Skipper Tom Oxland continued his fine form this season with a confident six runs off the opening over before he fell to a terrific ball and was caught behind.

James Doble (19) and Ollie Baumber (10) were next to depart leaving Budleigh 53-3 after ten of their 20 overs.

Two more quick wickets fell to leave the total 58-5 with Harry Geddes (3) and Piers Beckman-Findlay (0) dismissed and, when Max Mejzner (2) joined them back in the pavilion after 15 overs the Budleigh bid to post a healthy score looked lost.

However, Devon Short and Sid Fereday took the attack to the Mid Devon side and a series of excellent straight drives and powerful hitting rocketed the score to 119 at the close with the pair adding 48 for the seventh wicket. Short top scored with 27 and Fereday hit 22.

Ben Bolwell and Will Oxland were given the opening bowling duties and only conceded ten runs from their first four overs whilst Bolwell also opened up with a double wicket maiden!

When Mejzner struck in the seventh over the reply was 19-3.

The next wicket did not fall until the 15th over when Sam Fernley bagged a leg before decision and, with run scoring proving a tough task, the outcome was in no doubt!

There were run out’s from Ollie Baumber and Sam Fernley, a wicket for Doble and another fine wicket for Beckman-Findlay as Heathcoat closed on 52-9.
