Exmouth II were denied a fourth victory in six games by visiting Barton II.

Batting first on another splendid Maer ground track, Exmouth were excellent value for their maximum batting points, losing just two wickets as they posted a score of 244-2.

Stuart Rintoul (109) and Julian page (102no) were the undoubted stars of the pre-tea session.

However, the visitors were somewhat bullish in their approach to any run-chase and closed seven wickets down with 137 runs on the board with P Hall (3-58) and Matt tarry (2-55) the principle wicket takers.

This Saturday sees Exmouth face their stiffest task yet as they again have home comforts to enjoy with the visit of a Bradninch I side who sit immediately below them in the table.

With 16 points separating the sides at the start of play, an Exmouth victory would put them into a commanding position at the top of the table.
