Pym takes six as Topsham St James ladies put Sandford to the sword

Topsham St James women's team launched a new campaign in emphatic style with a nine wicket win over Sandford.

The Saints won the toss and opted to field first and soon had the visitors in trouble on the Bonfire Field wicket.

The only visiting player to reach double figures was skipper Jackie Snell as wickets fell on a regular basis. It was extra’s that made up the biggest single contribution – there were 37 wides bowled – as Sandford were bowled out for 81.

The pick of the home bowlers was Clare Pym who sent down seven overs, one of which was a maiden and she finished with six wickets for 10 runs.

The run chase was led by skipper Ffion Barham (12) and she was the only wicket to fall as Sally Hammond (21no) and Hannah Clark (40no), saw victory sealed in 19 overs.
