Budleigh Under-13s were 73 run winners when they met Sandford in their latest league outing.

Batting first home skipper Tom Oxland and James Doble raced to 21 in just four overs when Oxland was caught at mid-off.

Doble continued to dominate and took the score to 50 before he was trapped leg before.

Jacob Rice and Piers Beckman-Findlay were in, and out before Ollie Baumber was caught behind which brought together the big hitting duo of Devon Short and Sid Fereday.

The pair, fresh from a 48-run partnership, took the score to 97 before Short was bowled prior to Fereday running himself out. Harry Geddes was also run out for nine and it was left to Will Oxland and Max Mejzner to finish the innings off on a total of 110.

The Sandford reply was troubled from the opening ball thanks to a combination of fine bowling and sharp fielding.

Max Mejzner bowled one of the openers and ran out the other before claiming another wicket via a slick stumping by Tom Oxland as Sandford slumped to 4-2 from five overs. Devon Short bagged a brace, one of his wickets down to a fine Mejzner catch.

Jacob Rice, fielding at point, effected a run-out and Tom Blake held a wonderful diving catch.

Sid Fereday picked up the last two wickets which fell on 37 as Budleigh completed a comprehensive victory.
