TOPSHAM St James 1st XI player Ollie Devon put bat to ball with stunning effect in the final over of his side's innings against Kenn in the E Division of the Francis Clark League on Saturday.
After losing the toss and being invited to bat the Saints got off to a slow start and lost Brian Jeary in the 8th over with the score yet to reach double figures.
Two maidens followed, but then skipper Brian Bosomworth and former Kenn player, Andy Hawkey, began to get things moving.
Hawkey raced to his half century off 63 balls in a stand of 74 with the skipper.
When Hawkey departed, Nick Horne (14) joined Bosomworth with the captain finally out for 45 with the score on 140.
This brought Ollie Devon to centre stage and he and Horne plundered 79 in just eight overs before Horne was bowled for a 30 ball knock of 34.
Next man in was 15-year-old Joe Thomlinson and some sharp running saw 42 runs come off the next 11 deliveries.
At the start of the final ove,r Devon was on 73 but he crashed and bashed his way to splendid century, plundering 27 off the final over to finish with a 43 ball ton.
What's more, his second 50 came off just 11 balls and his ton was registered with nine 6's and seven 4's.
Kenn held on for the draw at 219-9 with 17-year-old Kam Singh taking 5-48, whilst there were a brace of catches held by Nick Horne and another of the side's 15-year-olds, Jack Richardson.
This, though, was very much Devon's day.
This Saturday brings the penultimate game of the season
