Exmouth 2nds sealed their promotion out of the Tolchards Devon League D Division East, doing it in style, defeating Sandford 2nds by seven wickets at the Maer ground.

Sandford batted first and closed their innings on a respectable 202-7.

Sean Day (2-23), Lawrence Greenway (2-30) and Gregg Marks (2-35) shared the wicket-taking duties.

The run chase was led by a splendid unbeaten century from Miles Lenygon, who was only turning out for the side as he had work which prevented him taking his place in the 1st XI, ironically away at Sandford.

Lenygon was unbeaten on 109 when the win was confirmed and Hugh Folland was responsible for the next best contribution, scoring 54.

With two games to play, Exmouth sit just five points behind table-topping Heathcoat 2nds. On Saturday (August 25), the Maer men entertain Upottery and the week after they end their season at a Chardstock 1st XI, who look most likely to join the current top two in the higher division next summer.
