EXMOUTH Under-15s met their Ottery St Mary counterparts twice in quick succession with both sides claiming a win each. The teams first crossed swords in the League with Ottery batting first in the Maer Ground meeting and being held to 103, thanks to some wonderful bowling by Harrison Folland (3-14) and Lewis Marks (3-27).The reply got off to a flyer as Patrick Hall (21) and Folland (43), stroked the ball around the ground. Jamie Tapper continued to carry the momentum to the visitors, plundering an unbeaten 27 to lead Exmouth to victory with two overs still to play. The two sides then locked horns again, this time in the Knockout Cup and once again Ottery batted first. They made a cracking start, with 30 coming off the first half dozen overs, to set the mark for the remainder of the innings which closed on 123. Exmouth did not help themselves conceding no fewer than 35 extras. The run chase started well enough as Folland hit a big 4 off of Tubbs but then, when he went to repeat the shot he top edged it and was comfortably taken by Matt Reed.Wickets then tumbled with regularity and the crucial one proved to be that of Jamie Tapper as he pushed the ball for what he thought was a comfortable single. What he hadn't accounted for though was the speed and accuracy of 13 year old debutant Billy Reed, who pounced on the ball and threw down the stumps at the bowler's end.Jessop was the only Exmouth played to offer any resistance after this and he made an impressive 24 before his side was finally dismissed for 72. The pick of Ottery's bowlers was Bradshaw-Smith with 3-18 off of his 4 overs.
