Budleigh Salterton CC Secretary Kevin Curran played a leading role in ensuring that young starlet, Raza Hasan eventually managed to link up with his team mates at a Nottingham hotel to prepare for the 2nd Test against England.
Budleigh Salterton cricketer Raza Hasan had quite a traumatic time actually linking up with the Pakistan national team at their Nottingham hotel!
It was Budleigh Secretary Kevin Curran who played a leading role in ensuring that the young star actually made it to his final destination.
Curran initially took the young cricketer to the Coach station in Exeter, purchase his ticket and bade him a fond farewell.
Shortly after returning to his Budleigh home Curran had a rueful Hasan on the phone explaining that he had missed his bus!
The Ottermouth club Secretary then called the ticket office and found, to his horror that the ticket was not transferable and therefore a new ticket would have to be purchased for the youngster to get in the next available coach.
It was then made clear that, for this to happen, the booking would need to be made in person and so Curran had to journey back to Exeter and, with a couple of minutes to spare, put the young man on his Coach together withy sufficient funds to pay for a taxi ride from Coach station to team hotel.
That was not quite the end of the story though, for Hasan’s baggage had gone on the earlier coach which he had missed and it needed a member of the Pakistan Test team management to arrange for player and baggage, to be re-united.
Budleigh Secretary Curran said: “It was all so surreal, a young man on his way to link up with his national cricket team on a journey that, initially, was stressful, to say the least! Hopefully, he will be fully focussed if and when he comes face to face with Kevin Pieterson and company!”
