Exmouth 2nd XI sit a healthy 18-points clear at the top of the table at the halfway stage of the Francis Clark Devon League season after a 121-run win at Plymstock II.
The star of the show was George Greenway.
The all-rounder had been dropped to the seconds to see if he could recover his earlier season form and he responded in superb fashion with a knock of 45 followed by a fivefer!
Donovan Robinson (53), Michael Collinge (41) and Lloyd Lowman (25) all chipped in alongside the Greenway innings to see Exmouth to maximum batting points and a close of 214-7.
The post tea session belonged to Greenway as he claimed five wickets for just 26 to roll over half the home side.
His first wicket was courtesy of a catch by Harry Conway but thereafter he knocked over the stumps for his other four wickets.
Matt Tarry and Scott Butler both bagged a brace and young Conway got the other wicket.
Heathcoat II have climbed into second place in a division that now has a clear ‘top half’ and ‘bottom half’ split.
Exmouth are currently 25 points clear of third placed Hatherleigh and it’s clear that if they can match their first half form over the next nine weeks then the Maer ground will be staging celebrations on the final Saturday of August when Plymstock II are due to visit.
Saturday sees Exmouth host third bottom Bradninch II who have won just one game this season so far.
