Chris Ferro was the star of the show for Clyst St George as they returned from a visit to Barnstaple. with a losing draw.

The hosts batted first and closed on a commanding 264-3.

Faced with such a total it needed one, or more, of the Clyst batsmen to occupy the crease for a length of time and Ferro did just that striking an imperious, unbeaten 93. Pete Andrews, playing his first game of the season, provided the best supporting role with a knock of 28 and Clyst made the draw at 183-7.

That leaves the Bohea Field men third from bottom in the B Division, sitting five points clear of Cockington who occupy one of the two relegation berths.

Axminster are the nearest side to Clyst, sitting 17 points above them in the table. Next up is this Saturday’s home game with table topping Shobrooke Park who seized control of the Division last weekend with a home win over Axminster whilst morning leaders Brixham fell at Plymstock.
