CLYST St George slipped to a fifth defeat of the B Division season when they went down at home to table topping Shobrooke Park at Bohea Field.

The Mid Devon side are a powerful unit this term and they claimed a nine wicket win after the hosts were restricted to a total of 191-8.

Chris Ferro was once again the star of the villagers show with the bat as he hit the top score of 64. There were other contributions from Tim Read (46) and Duncan Chave with 21 but the visiting bowlers held sway throughout and the total was probably fifty shy of a competitive one on a magnificent Bohea Field wicket.

Just how good that Clyst St George strip was became clear after tea as the visitors sailed to a nine wicket win.

So the half way point of the season has arrived and Clyst St George find themselves very much in a relegation battle. They currently sit one place and nine points above the drop zone.

This coming weekend they travel to meet a Bideford side who sit bottom of the table and have yet to win a game this term. When the sides met at Bohea Field on the opening day of the season there was not a ball bowled owing to the weather.

A positive result is required in North Devon on Saturday is required otherwise it could be a dour struggle for the remainder of the campaign.
