Budleigh Under-12s got the better of neighbours Woodbury in a Bradleys East Devon Youth League meeting.
Batting first, Budleigh were led to a healthy 133-5 by Edward Doble who retired with his wicket intact on 33 having hit four 4s. Alex Taylor (18), Tommy Dawson (17) and Finley Marks (15), all made contributions with the bat. Marks and Doble put on 39 for the opening wicket but the biggest partnership was the one for the third wicket between Doble and Taylor that realised 63 runs.
Gwen Parks bowled very well again for Woodbury finishing with figures of 2-26 whilst there were single wickets for Connell Deehan-Jackson, Ben Matten and Adam Woodman.
One other feature of the first innings was a fine catch held by young Michael Cooper.
The reply saw Woodbury restricted to 82-9 in their twenty overs with only Michael Cooper making much of an impression with a knock of 17 that included two 4s.
There was a fine opening stand of 36 between Cooper and Sam Corney who made seven.
Bill Ferney was the star of the show for Budleigh with the ball taking four wickets for just five runs and there was also a brace of wickets taken by Ed Doble whilst, in the field, a smart stumping from Alex Taylor and a fine catch from Tom Oxland were also most notable moments.
