CLYST St George slipped to a fourth defeat in seven outings when they went down by five wickets at home to Cockington.

The defeat, to one of only two sides to sit below Clyst St George in the B Division table, leaves the villagers just four points off the drop zone heading into this coming weekend match day eight of an 18 game campaign.

The host’s batted first and closed just five runs shy of banking all five batting points, losing their final wicket on 195.

They were helped to that total by no fewer than 64 extras!

The highest contribution from the bat was a knock of 44 from Paul Richardson, whilst Duncan Chave chipped in with 28.

The visitors got home with five wickets in hand, Chris Cook being the most successful Clyst bowler with 3-42.

This weekend, Mark Couch takes his side to Barnstaple who will begin the match immediately above Clyst St George in the table.
