TICKETS are now on sale for the Chris Reed benefit match that is being held at Exmouth's Maer Ground home on July 10.The former England wicketkeeper, now captain of Nottinghamshire, grew up in Devon cricket, playing with Paignton in the County League before becoming a professional. He went on to play in 15 Test matches as well as 36 one-day internationals before losing his place in the England side. This year Reed has been granted a benefit by his county and so he is bringing his team to Exmouth for a couple of days to take part in a number of benefit year fundraising events.Among them is a gala dinner organised by home-two club Paignton, as well as a golf day.During the Notts visit there will also be a coaching clinic for younger players to attend. The opposition for the Maer Ground match will be a Devon Board XI comprising of players who have come up through the county youth ranks, just as Read did, when he started on his way in the game as a 10 year old.Tickets are priced at £5 and are available from the Devon Cricket Office at the University of Exeter Sports Hall, Stocker Road, Exeter, Devon, EX4 4QN.Proceeds from the July 10 game will be split between Reed's benefit fund and the Devon youth system.
