Archant

Exmouth’s eagerly anticipated day of cricket in the Servicemaster Devon Cup failed to materialise when Bovey Tracey cried off, writes Conrad Sutcliffe.

The Maer Ground had been booked on Bank Holiday Sunday for a round of pool four matches involving Exmouth, Bovey Tracey and Hatherleigh.

Bovey’s non-appearance meant only one match was played, instead of three.

Instead of a full day’s cricket, just 27 overs were played as Exmouth thrashed Hatherleigh by eight wickets.

Charlie Nielson (26) had the only score of note as Hatherleigh were held to 82 for seven. Ollie Dawe, Bob Dawson and David Lye had two wickets each.

Baggs (31) and Dan Pyle (38) knocked off the runs with them minimum of fuss.
