A well attended Exmouth Cricket Club AGM at the Maer Ground voted very much for the status quo as far as management of the club was concerned.
Among the main appointments, Jim Wood was re-elected as club president and Richard Butler as club chairman.
New appointments included Debbie Austin as welfare officer, Lucy Davies as social chairman and Trevor Anning as chairman of ground.
In recognition of their extraordinary support and service for the club, special thanks were given to Anne Blong and Nigel Sampson while John Humphries was elected as a honorary vice president and Peggy Browning as a life member.
On the cricketing side, Richard Baggs continues as club and 1st XI captain, Michael Collinge becomes 2nd XI captain, Tom Sampford is 3rd XI captain and Lucy Burch takes over as ladies’ captain with Ben Walters looking after the Sunday XI.
Richard Butler gave his special thanks to members of the executive committee, the volunteers who contribute to the club throughout the year, to the new management of the T- Hut and Ben Walters for his management of the Bar.
Looking to the future, Butler outlined significant changes for 2013, including new arrangements for Friday night colts sessions under the guidance of new club coach Sandy Allen and the setting up of a new colts committee.
New quality players had been attracted to the club for 2013, enhancing the existing strong playing squad and new opportunities for funding and sponsorship are being pursued.
In addition the AGM was advised that the club is in the process of completing three significant funding bids to the Olympics Inspired Facilities Fund, Landfill Tax and the ECB.
If successful, this will provide new showers, disabled facilities and a new umpires room in the Pavilion, new three-bay outdoor nets and enable major works to improve the main square.
The club’s annual Dinner and Awards Evening takes place at the Royal Beacon this Saturday (November 24).
